Mountain Bike Transition - Makarau Scout Camp


Approx Schedule

7:00 AM Security team.

8:45 AM Full Team of Marshals (Start time plus 1 hour) for safety briefing and position placement.

12:00 PM Pack up. Or earlier at the Stage Managers discretion


People Required

A team of min of 10 adults (plus responsible youth only) are needed on site.

Stage Manager 1

Road Marshals 8 (not youth)

  • 1 Parking director in at Makarau Hall

  • 1 controlling cars exiting Burnside Road

  • 1 with tape over the road, preventing competitors from going on down Makarau Road past the transition finish.

  • 2 more at large intersection of Burke and Makarau Roads. Directing cars (locals and supporters) and competitors

  • 2 at the finish line directing competitors

  • 2 youth would be useful as communication runners and for restroom breaks


Set Up Saturday

Requires setup team of 2-3 prior to the event, collect gear from Race Director. 2 hours

Note: the 2-3 timing people are there to do timing, not answer questions from supporters or direct competitors

After last rider has swapped from road bike to mountain bike, the full team to pack up the gear, place any remaining bike behind hall no security is provided after transition.

Marshals are required to attend Health & Safety briefing, and will get a copy of the Health & Safety document including standard forms

Requires 1 person to have current First Aid cert.

  • Bike Stands

  • Tape, Cones, Standards

  • Signs

  • Rubbish Bags

  • T Shirts and 9 safety vests

  • Toilet Paper

Please wear official T Shirt (if available) and safety vests and return ASAP for use next year

Lost Property – Competitors gear is usually collected by support crew. Please bring any lost property down to the finish line at Wenderholm. If that is not possible/or practical, please notify Race Director as soon as possible so that he can reassure folk that “their bike has not been stolen just that someone took the wrong one”

Security for gear is only provided before the transition, not after it has closed.

Timing crew are extra's reporting to Timing Coordinator and have their own gear list
